Performing

Mary has performed regularly in the North East, frequently appearing with respected national and international musicians, and also supporting young stars of the future as they gain experience. As a performer she is most frequently to be found in the woodwind section of a period orchestra or collaborating with colleagues to present unusual, informative and entertaining recitals.

Now that Mary has retired from the classroom she will be available for engagements throughout the UK, in term time as well as in school holidays. She will also be forming a Trio Sonata Group – details of programmes to follow.

Recent highlights include:
  • Sage Gateshead with Newcastle Bach Choir, directed by Eric Cross: Bach St Matthew Passion, Mozart Requiem.
  • Period flute with the Durham Singers Ensemble in Durham Cathedral: Bach B-Minor Mass, St Matthew and St John Passions and Christmas Oratorio, Haydn Creation, Handel ‘Will the sun forget to streak’ (with soprano Rowan Pierce). Recorder soloist for Durham SIngers: Britten, ‘Noye’s Fludde’
  • Bach Cantatas and Passions with The Bishop’s Consort directed by the Right Reverend David Stancliffe (flute and recorder): One to a part period performances, with recent young soloists including Rowan Pierce, Hugo Hymas, Charlotte La Thrope and Ben Rowarth.
