As well as improving my technique and performance skills, Mary has helped me to become a better musician. She's always very encouraging, and I value the way she gives equal priority to baroque and modern recorder repertoire.
Current Teaching Arrangements
EFFECTIVE FROM 14 SEPTEMBER 2020
I am currently offering lessons in several different live and online formats. Choose one or a combination of whichever suits you best.
1. Face-to-face ‘live’ lessons
The government has recently issued new guidelines regarding the resumption of instrumental teaching, including woodwind instruments, which means that, with due safeguarding measures in place, we can now meet face-to-face for 1:1 lessons. I have purchased a 1m x 2m, portable clear Perspex screen to minimise droplet transmission (I will be on one side of the screen, the pupil on the other); time will be left between lessons so that surfaces can be cleaned and pupils are unlikely to pass on their way in and out; hand sanitiser will be available (although washing hands is better, especially for wooden instruments); separate music stands; no sharing of instruments etc etc.
A detailed risk assessment and procedures can be provided on request.
One-to-one lessons are available at the following locations:
2. Lessons via Zoom
These have been very successful and popular and will continue. If you haven’t tried it and the other options don’t suit, why not give it a go? I’ll help to guide you through the setting up etc. No extra equipment usually needed but Zoom lessons do require good internet access.
3. Video Exchange lessons
A new venture. You send me a short video of something you specifically want a lesson on; I watch it then video and send my response, which you can then access when convenient to yourself and re-watch as often as you wish. This is a good alternative for those whose internet access cannot support Zoom or where timetabling is difficult. Please contact me to discuss the details..
4.**New** Recorders: Dance and Sing
My new, piece specific, video tuition series, with three different ‘levels’ available (Foundation, Lower Intermediate, Upper Intermediate).

I am willing to consider leading morning, afternoon or full- day workshops for small groups of players, in well ventilated spaces where suitable social distancing can be maintained. Please contact me to discuss further.
